Crypto.ba – Building Bosnia’s Blockchain Community

Overview

Crypto.ba is a decentralized crypto community platform that serves as the main blockchain hub for enthusiasts, developers, and educators across Bosnia and Herzegovina. I joined the core team to help with development, forum maintenance, and community education — with a mission to promote blockchain awareness and self-custody tools throughout the region.

My Role

  • Maintained the forum infrastructure (Discourse-based), including security patches, backups, and plugin customization.
  • Developed community tools (wallet explorers, bot integrations, crypto utilities).
  • Assisted with education and outreach, including AMAs, writing guides, and participating in local events.
  • Collaborated with local builders on emerging projects and hackathons.

Highlights

  • Helped grow the Crypto.ba platform to thousands of active members, making it the largest regional crypto hub.
  • Participated in organizing meetups and partnering on events like MOSTART, Hackathons, and academic panels.
  • Provided multi-language technical support, helping onboard hundreds of users into safe crypto practices.

Tech & Tools

  • Discourse, Docker, Ubuntu, Nginx
  • Custom bots in Node.js & Python
  • Self-hosted tools for privacy and autonomy

Why it Matters

Crypto.ba isn’t a startup — it’s a resilient community that empowers individuals with open-source software, education, and peer support. By working on Crypto.ba, I’ve learned the value of grassroots organizing, digital sovereignty, and maintaining high-trust, high-autonomy systems over the long term.
